“Specs of the 11.6 millimeter device … include a 3.5-inch wide touchscreen display with multi-touch support and a proximity sensor to turn off the sensor when it’s close to your face, 2 megapixel cam, 4GB or 8 GB of storage, Bluetooth with EDR and A2DP, WiFi that automatically engages when in range, and quadband GSM radio with EDGE. Perhaps most amazingly, though, it somehow runs OS X with support for Widgets, Google Maps, and Safari, and iTunes … with CoverFlow out of the gate. A partnership with Yahoo will allow all iPhone customers to hook up with free push IMAP email.”

What I find interesting about this (aside from the amazing phone I’m drolling over) is that Cisco has owned the the name “iPhone” since 2000, when it acquired InfoGear Technology Corp., which originally registered the name. According to Betanews.com, Apple acquired the patent from Cisco’s Linksys division. I wonder what kind of deal they worked out for the name!?

- A widescreen iPod
- Cell phone
- Internet appliance
Features
- One button labeled “Home”
- 3.5-inch, 160 pixel-per-inch, screen
- It measures 11/16 inches thick.
- It is compatible with the GSM standard which means it will be on the Cingular network.
- Its interface would switch based on the application
- No stylus

EDIT 01/10/07 - Apparently Cisco is suing Apple over iPhone name. I don’t know what to make of these conflicting reports yet . . .
