I saw this in the Subaru booth, it’s a ride simulator running Gran Turismo 3. I asked the attendant what was running it and she told me:
“It’s powered by three Playstation 2’s and a computer.”
It uses three LCD’s for your “windshield” and there is a 42″ plasma to the left of the simulator that shows the current race in replay mode! It also rocks back & forth, front & back a few degrees depending on how you steer.

No kidding! I wish they had this setup at CES earlier this year for Gran Turismo HD!!
THe old driving simulators I played were just a bunch of white lines moving on a black background!
I can picture it now. Saman standing in line to test this thing out and he is at least twice as tall as everyone else in line (reference the picture). But I’m sure twice as excited!

GT HD has some amazing graphics – but it doesn’t have shortcuts!!

Infact, looking at it, it looks like it was designed more for bigger people than for the kids in line, or maybe I’m seeing it wrong?
The seat moved back and forth, like many contemporary arcade games, so anyone could play!!
Someone needs to write out the specs for one of these things, then wait for a sale on some LCDs and we’re money! I’ve got an extra ps2 lying around the house for sure!

Subaru rocks!!! I want to know if they put the all wheel, turbo, mad turning radius on the simulator. I would put some money down to see what my subaru could do.

Yeah, no kidding – although, I would use GT HD – can you image the computing power of three PS3’s?!?!? Not that one couldn’t do the job…

if it’s as realistic as it sounds, I doubt those kids would’ve been able to enjoy it as much as it could be enjoyed 
I love the Gran Turismo series… as well as the Need for Speed games… can’t wait for all the anticipated games to come out on the PS3 so I’ll be urged to buy one
