I just read on John Chow’s post of a security fix for Wordpress, that there is an upgrade for Wordpress 2.1 so I immediately upgraded all of my installs to v2.1.2. Then I noticed something great: Firefox’s spell check is working in Wordpress’ Rich Text Editor!
This was is a feature that I have been missing since upgrading from 1.5 and I am so glad it’s back - I’m not the greatest speller!

Oh, one last thing: I have been writing in Wordpress all day but didn’t notice this bulletin in the Dashboard because I use bookmarks in Firefox to write, edit & do everything else! So I have added the Wordpress Development Blog RSS feed to my feed reader - you might want to do the same (this is the same URL that the Dashboard uses to get updates)!
I’m running Firefox 2.0.0.2 and it’s still failing - I just end up writing articles in Word and then copying them over.
I would do the same, but Word puts in some much extra XLM data - or, Word’s version of XML. I find that I have to go in and erase all of that extra code!!
I guess I’m glad I never did that latest download of WP 2.1. It saved me the headache of the “craker” as Chow put it
I waited a while before upgrading, but mainly for plugin support! I’m glad I did finally upgrade though, WP2 has some great features!
I love the spell checker in Firefox 2.0 I use it a lot..err well it corrects my spelling a lot.
Now if it could deal with grammar!
lol, I do rely on the spell checker quite a bit. I try not too, I do try learn and spell better - but there are times when I can’t get my brain and fingers don’t communicate!
Sounds familiar indeed; for those moments a grammar plugin would be cool, but then again, if the spell checker doesn’t even understand SEO and ‘plugin’, what would the grammar check think of this post?
Good point, but that is one of the many benefits of a great browser like Firefox: you can add those words to it’s dictionary - it can learn!

My spelling is pretty good but I tend to reread my posts far too many times checking for mistakes. A spell checker will definetly save me some time.
I tend to reread mine so often that I end up missing the mistakes (if that makes any sense!), that’s when the spell check comes in handy for me!
My spelling isn’t that great, really like the spell checker in firefox. I don’t use the rich text editor, so I didn’t notice that it was not working.

Unfortunately the spell check doesn’t handle grammer
Spelling I’m OK..but I tend to add words words twice and not notice (even though I go back and check before publishing).
My spelling is OK…but I tend to add words words twoice and not notice no matter how many times I proof read. MS Word may by way to go for me.
