Got My Spotplex Code!
I first heard of Spotplex when I read John Chow’s article Happenings Around The Net, and thought I needed to get in on it right away!
What is Spotplex?
From their site:
Spotplex provides internet users with real-time ranking of blog articles based on actual impression count.
In other words, you can find what is the hot news today, this week, or this month in real time at Spotplex. This is not a list of articles people recommended or voted for, but a list of articles read most in a given timeframe.
Bloggers can track and analyze their blog traffic with a simple Spotplex code or widget. Not just how many people visit the blog, they can even find which articles people read most and how many people read them. Whenever an article of the blog is read, it will show up at Spotplex in real-time and get noticed by Spotplex users.
So, it’s kind of a version of Digg for bloggers - but without the voting, the more people read an article, the higher it’s ranked and thus, more exposure for you! No one has to submit any articles, it’s only based on page views! The way Spotplex displays articles is the reverse of Digg’s - upcoming stories are the default view!
How Can I Get In?!
The service is sill in Beta form and by invitation only. As John pointed out, they’re only giving away 1000 invites which you can try and get by sending an email to: signup@spotplex.com
Thoughts
I’m really looking forward to seeing some stats from this free service! As I said, it’s still in beta which means that the Blog Standing widget isn’t always working and the stats seem to be off, but I imagine they’re working on that!
Here’s my widget for the most popular articles of all time, and since I’ve only had code in place for one day, the numbers a pretty low but I think they should be higher, according to my Most Viewed Posts plugin my first Speed Linking article has been viewed 190 times!

I was in the top ten blogs for Saturday after Fark linked to one of my articles. I wonder if Monday will bring in a big influx of traffic?
How does it effect your rank? Did it slip now that a day has passed?
That’s an interesting concept. I can only imagine if you get dugg, how much more traffic spotplex will bring in. I sent them an email, maybe they’ll invite me to join

I missed spotlex when John Chow described it there and found it today in other’s blog. Will try to email them later. However, I would like to thank you since my technorati rank is getting better every time they updated thanks to being placed in top spammers

Thanks for sharing. This service seems cool and a more fair way to promote your content. Since lots of posts get their hits from various services like Search Engines results pages etc, this will surely add to the count and popularity of the post.

Got my code and entered it on the site. Also have placed the sidebar link. How long did it take for their system to populate? Says it can’t find my site and it has no articles listed…
I think it was about 24 hours but I can’t remember exactly!
To all: Hi to all who have installed the Spotplex widget. Any comments on if this has helped, hurt, or made no difference in your traffic?
Since all it does is track and count, I can see how it is good for analytics but no other benefit really.
Enlighten me.
I can’t say that it’s made any difference in traffic and I honestly don’t look at the metrics too often…
Maybe I should remove it!
