I love Google, I really do! Since I can remember, I have been using them for everything:
- Directions
- Homework Help (When I can’t answer my kids questions)
- Questions
- Movie Times
- Weather
- etc
Recently, I performed a query and I thought of something: Are the Googles a little too good? The other day, I searched for Sushi in Washington DC, and I was able to view a map, get directions and read reviews - and everything was synced and working so seamlessly that I never skipped a beat. I was able to read about, and get directions, for four different places that were around me in under five minutes!! I really can’t explain how perfectly it all worked!
Try that on MSN or Yahoo!
It was crazy, I couldn’t believe how perfect the system really was! Then, I read a story by Jason Clark titled “Is Google Becoming A God?” and I couldn’t agree with Jason more!!
Read his article, let me know what you think! Also, am I the only one who is this impressed with the Big G? I have been using them forever, but what will they think of next?!!?!?
The people behind Google are really good. If you think about it, everyone probably does loads of searches, and the cool thing is, when you need something, the first result is usually good enough. And thinking back, you may notice some of your searches can have different meanings, yet the first result is still good enough… their too perfect alright…
LOL homework help. Gee, where was Google when I was in grade school?! I used to get so pissed at my parents for not being able to help me with my 4th grade math homework. “How did you graduate if you can’t do 4th grade math!?”
No kidding!!
I don’t use it to give her the answers, I just it to remember the rules and formulas so I can teach her the “right” way…
That and I can’t remember half of this crap!
like i mentioned on jason’s blog, if google can one day tell me what is in my medicine cabinet, i will be a believer
“what would google do?”
WWGD… sounds like a fob trying to pronounce WWJD
I doubt that is too far off!
Google analytics gives them a tremendous amount of detail about our spending habits. At the moment, people can of trust Google, but at the end of the day they are a profit making business - and a very successful one at that.
yeah, google analytics is very detailed but currently i’m using statcounter. what makes statcounter different from google analytics is that you get very specific data of your last 500 visitors! ofcourse i’m using analytics as well.
Google probably gathers much more extensive information from people that use their searches anyway….
right, if i’m going for the general trend, i go for Google.
hi saman, google is not perfect, in fact there are millions of people out that that are still not getting the search results they are getting thus google is tweaking is algorithm ‘everyday?’. i read this from the nytimes and it was cool.
i found the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/03/business/yourmoney/03google.html?ex=1338523200&en=f003aaab287c0a72&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss enjoy i found it interesting.
Thanks for the link, I’ll have to read it!
It makes sense that Google is constantly tweaking, if they didn’t, the results would become stagnant!
just an idea. what if they have their own news writers… what do you think?
i love gmail by the way, but Yahoo! still controls that market.
i love gmail too… are you sure Yahoo! still controls the market? very few of my friends use Yahoo! Mail as their primary e-mail and the ones that do live in Asia. But then again there are more Asians than North Americans…
yes Yahoo! still controls the market. if you check the Alexa sources for Yahoo! 50% come from Yahoo! mail.
That’s crazy!
I know that a lot of non-power users find Gmail a little confusing. Seems that they don’t understand how to use tags…
I’m not too happy with Google at the moment, banning me from adsense
G seems to be my go-to site for everything, too. I almost feel like not using them sometimes, just because I have lived my entire life going against the grain. I feel very conformist using Google for the whole kit and caboodle.
i sure Yahoo! still controls the market
