You All Have Been Good To Me
OK guys, as of right now, my Technorati rank is 1,965 and I have you all to that for that!(Technorati glitch) Here is what I’m doing to give back to this amazing blogging community: Each week, I write an article titled Speed Links and I choose which sites to link to from my Top Commentators list on the left sidebar – you want a free linkback? Get involved on this site! You end up getting two linkbacks: One from the Top Commentators list and another from the Speed Link article!
EDIT: I removed the NOFOLLOW tag, so you get linkbacks from comments too!
EDIT 2: I will also submit your article to StumbleUpon!
What Else Can I Do?
- You can write a Speed Links article yourself, I noticed a pretty big jump in traffic from my first Speed Links article! Pick out some blogs you like and link to them! You’ll catch the eye of the blogger and their readers – and, as always, link to me and I’ll link back to you! Since my site is ranked pretty high, you only have something to gain!
- Get involved on Samanathon.com!
- DRT let me know of my raising Technorati rank and I linked to him (look, he just got another one).
- Derek and Jane let me know when my site was down and I linked to them (they each just got another one)!
- If you see a typo, let me know!
- Is there something you want more of, let me know and you’ll get linkbacks!
- Start commenting!
I noticed that, both my rank and traffic, jumped when I got involved in half a dozen sites and you will too – especially if your blog is new or ranked low! Become a regular visitor and commentator and I promise to do whatever I can to help you out – No site reviews or silly contests! It’s my way of “sharing the wealth”! If you think about it: It will only take you a minute or two to get involved on my site and you gain so much in return!

The flags and browsers are part of a much larger plugin called FireStats. It also shows me recent referrals, popular pages, and so much more!

Dont you get stats from your hosting / server then?
That firestats is cool, it picked up the Linux distribution I am using, hadnt expected that.
It really is a great plugin, it returns so much info!
I do get stats from my host, but this is right in my dashboard! My host has to render a pretty graph, this is faster!
Yea firestats is great but I feel its really bloated! Now I don’t know this for a fact, but it creates so many mysql tables and keeps track of every single visitor.. its gotta be!
Well, I know for a fact that its not “bloated”.
the number of tables has nothing to do with the amount of data it stores.
in fact, I would bet hands off that the storage requirements for the current stable (1.2.4) are way less than any other “single table” stats plugin out there.
this is without mentioning the next version, that will add at least 4 more tables, but will _dramatically_ reduce storage usage.
so you can relax, its not bloated now, and it will be much better in the near future.
Now that’s showing the love! This speedlinking thing sure has turned into quite the phenomenon. Got on my last speedlink post too

Looks like technorati has gone mad or something, saman. They seemed to have reduced the number of inbound links to 28 for you. At this point in time, that is. Weird?
Yeah, an hour ago it told me that I had no incomming links!

Hey, perhaps your speedlinking will become as influential as the ‘Father of Speedlinks’ Darren Rowse. It’s an effective method of getting the cream out to people. There’s just so much information to keep up with everyday now.
You know, I never understood what speed linking was when I read them on Darren’s site – and I don’t know why!

Hi there, Saman. I came to your blog to check the PHP4 version of Doug Karr’s Technorati plug-in. I’m not usre if I’ll use it, because I think the Authority widget is funny, specially, along side the Alexa Rank. As one goes up, the other goes down.
Later, I’ve notice this article about SpeedLinking and I thought it was cool. Not that much because of my blog, but for some other projects I’m working on. You’ll see.

I like this idea of Speed Linking. I’ve been noticing a lot more bloggers doing it lately. It’s a really nice way to tip your hat to folks for writing a nice article and just generally giving them a little link love. I think I may just jump onto the Speed Linking train

I don’t think there’s a coincidence that this particular article has so many comments. The speed linking idea is a great one, though, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it pop up all over the place.
I like the idea of speed linking to generate blog awareness, i browse a lot of blogs and sometimes it’d be good to share what ive found, and get noticed in the process. As for The links i get back, i have a few sites, my blog, my dev blog, and a company website. I tend to link to the company as it makes me the most money, but getting the word out about all of them is fun, and i come across cool sites like this!
