My Technorati Rank Just Broke The 7k Mark!
Mr. Gary Lee and I have been pretty close in our Technorati ranking for a while. My rank has been a little ahead of his but my blog has been around just a little longer - anyway, I was just reading his blog and my jaw dropped: Gary just hit 7,325 on Technorati! That’s awesome news!!
While reading his article, I was wondering just “How in the world he did he do it?!” but that was until I read the last paragraph: Gary mentions that my site just hit 6,939!
What?! I couldn’t believe it, I had to check for myself!! I went right to my Technorati page to check and he was right! 
How did this happen? How did our ranks jump from 20k to under 7k over night? One of Gary’s commentators thought that John Chow’s site has been reinstated in Technorati and we were getting hits from John Top Commentator’s list. Well, John is still banned from Technorati but we are still getting hits from from him - we always have. My guess is that Technorati has changed their Ranking algorithm - I really doubt that both Gary and I got a ton of high ranking incoming links overnight! EDIT: It does look like Technorati indexed a ton of incoming links from John on both mine and Gary’s sites.
Whatever the reason for our spike in rank, this is great news for you too: If I’ve linked to you, I’m guessing that all of your rank has jumped too! Did it? Drop a comment and let me know!

He did tell, there is a post on it somewhere and JC has been dropped by Technorati, which explains his shift toward SEO’ reviews, though I am surprised he did not ask for these in the first place…

Try refreshing once or twice at technorati and see the difference!
That’s weird, I did get to see the same numbers as you the second time I refreshed Firefox - but the old numbers in IE…
I wonder if it’s a caching problem…

Yea, it shouldn’t be this way! Although there’s some happiness in breaking some barriers, the ranking looks a little too ‘fake’ for my liking now.
I agree, the numbers aren’t exactly accurate, but I have no problem showing off those numbers!

Ive noticed my rank jumping around a lot, I wonder if they will fix the mess John created with his ‘ping of link love’ and what the ranking will drop to then?
Technorati must have a real issue dealing with this or they would have patched it by now.

I just hope it holds together long enough for you to get entry to the add networks your chipping away at. I would imagine Alexa is another metric you need to work on.
I have to agree with Lyndon that it looks way too dodgey now, it may not do you any favours with add networks if they start sniffing around.
You could always calm down on the commenting or plug another URL if you have a different site.
From my experience of commenting on JC you dont actually get much traffic, its the Alexa and Technorati boost that makes it worth while.
That may be true, I do need to concentrate on other traffic building methods but it I wasn’t getting any traffic until I started making my mark on John site - and I keep getting new visitors from his site!
Now It’s time to rope in visitors from other sites too!
I’m still muddling along, trying to drop below 25,000.

Congrats on the unreal progress Saman! You’ve certainly blown right past me as I am still sitting around 22,000. I think it helps to get as many people adding you to favorites and then all of the links you get by being in the top commentators at John’s site and others certainly helps.
He taught me to get our fingers a little bit dirty.
Commenting on so many blogs has certainly paid off! I am getting more new visitors and more traffic!

Does anyone else have a problem posting comments on JC’s blog? I have an issue with leaving comments on a few blogs and I can’t figure why (I’ve tried IE and FF)
It says on John’s when I click ‘Add Comment’

He might be playing around with his wp-comments.php file - I know that he has changed his default (as have I), he might be tweaking it again…

I just got link jump as well from 828,733 to 54,093 overnight on Technorati after my bacth coming up on JC site.

It’s been a slow climb for me since breaking the 40,000 mark. Just pushed through 30,000. It’s getting harder and harder for me. Or maybe I’m not doing anything that’s why I’m not moving up like you.
So what will happen to JC now? Will Technorati unban him anytime soon? Does it even bother JC?
