Speed Linking, March 3, 2007

I have seen Speed Linking on some other blogs, but it wasn’t until I was featured in Nick’s Speed Linking article that I realized what a valuable idea it was! It gives your visitor access to some great content and provides linkbacks for other bloggers! Win/Win for everyone!
- Nick has some great thoughts on the “The Coke Theory“, which is a great philosophy on being a blogger - but you could apply that train of thought elsewhere!
- Stephen Fung has posted his February Checklist for being a Dot Com Mogul. It is a very interesting checklist. If you want to be a success on the net, you should check this article out (I had the chance to have a quick email conversation with Stephen and he’s a pretty funny guy too!).
- Jane did a great job over coming some technical difficulties during a phone interview and gives some great tips on preparing for phone interviews - we’re still all waiting for that video review though
- Shawn Knight started a Photo-A-Day series and has some great shots - he better get a good grade on that midterm!
- Derek over at My New Choice, wrote a great article on Discussing Money With Your Kids. As a parent, I suggest you check it out!
- Tyler Ingram wrote a great article on achieving 301 Redirects with PHP! As Tyler says: “When in doubt, PHP can do pretty much whatever I want it to do!”
- Rod Begbie wanted to help out the Boston Police so he posted some “This Is Not A Bomb” stickers around Boston. That is some funny stuff!
- Speaking of Boston, Brian Briggs over on the satire site BBspot, reports that the Boston Police Bomb Squad blew up a suspicious looking man.
- Eric Poulton has created some very cool steampunk artwork of Star Wars characters! Steampunk, basically, is set in the time of steam power and focuses on technology.
And last, but certainly not lest:
- The Root Of All Evil took a break from his backlog of ReviewMe posts to drop some science on our asses! He gave us some more SEO knowledge in his post about the Importance of Deep Linking.
That’s it for now, enjoy the links!

Thanks for the link back! I liked the idea behind speedlinking - it’s like a quick “Hey!” everyday to all your fellow bloggers.
No worries, thanks to you for the first “tag” and all of the great comments!
Thanks for the link! I do my best to keep it fun
No worries, now let me win a contest!
[…] like to thank Saman for the inspiration for this post. He speed linked me on one of his posts, so I thought I’d continue on by speedlinking a few more blogs that I […]
Thanks for the link, oh and for the midterm - got a 94 on it
Mind you, I never bought the book and didn’t bother to ’study’ heh…
You’re welcome! As for the grade, that’s great! That makes that night out seem like a small celebration!
Oh speed linking, I like it! I went to Stephen’s page, saw you linked and me linked, went to you page saw him and me linked and ever over to http://www.oubipaws.org/?p=105 and linked again! You people are crazy, now I need to keep track of all these and come up with a speed link list of my own to share
Thanks for the link though, much appreciated!
No worries, It’s all love!
Great article on speedlinks but you nor the guy you got it from tells how or where I can get it (or how to do it if its manual)???
Paul, Speed Linking is not something you “get”, it’s something you do! All I did was find content that I enjoyed and passed it on!
The benefits are win/win for both linkee and linker: For the linkee, they get a free linkback (because they didn’t do anything for the link) and they also get some exposure from visitors outside of their regular reader base! As the linker, I got some visits from the linkee and their regular visitor.
And now I may get some more linkbacks as well!
EDIT: This post has skyrocketed to become my most visited post!
I may have to do more!
I’m not sure I like the name but it’s a good idea. I think I’ll do one of these tomorrow.
Well, I can’t take any credit for that but I would imagine that, since the descriptions of the links are short sentences, the link is small and there for speedy…
Everyone is doing speed linking posts now!
But that’s not a bad thing! According to Technorati, there are around 70.3 million blogs!!
Speedlinking help to give some exposure to blog you may have never heard of!!
I am going to do them daily because I have a method to my madness - haha. I have a draft open all day long and just add links and shorthand notes, then at night - just post them.
I always had wished more people would do these more often - not to so much link back to my site - but to help other people. You read other sites, that means you enjoy what they write, why not say “tag” and show them that you enjoyed reading?
I was adding bookmarks to Firefox’s toolbar, but that is a better idea!
Thanks for the link Saman! It’s always nice to see other people that enjoy one of your posts enough to link to it.
I’ve been seeing this on more and more sites but I agree it is a great way to share other sites and information that some of your readers may not otherwise find.
No worries Derek! Keep writing the great content!
[…] I would like to thank Saman at Samanthon.com, Nick at Oubipaws.org and Stephen at StephenFung.net for linking to my post about discussing money […]

Great Post! I clicked through a lot of the links and enjoyed Stephen Fung’s the most. I think I’m gonna do my February Invoice and see if I have what it takes to be a Dot Come Mogul!
Good luck Gary - just believe you can and you will!
Glad to hear you clicked the links too, seems like everyone enjoyed the list!
Great links. Thanks.
OK, I missed the train.
I have passed this post few times and didn’t take a look at it until I jumped from one link to other starting from your Friends Sites, landed at Stephen Fung site, laughing with every body else since I also thought about software drivers instead of drivers on the street…., and finally got back to this page because of the speed linking in Stephen’s site. Now I know, what is it.
Yeah, that was a funny discussion! Maybe I should describe what Speed Linking is in the next series!
I see, I see…
So this is speed-linking.
Been seeing it all over the sphere lately.
Hmm I can see why speed linking is of value in the Blogsphere, but for Google its not much use, swapping reviews would be far more effective as google divides ratings from links by the number of links on a page, if that makes sense.
Put another way, the more links on a page, the more ‘diluted’ each one becomes.
Still, for the time it takes to do I spose its well worth it.

Hi all!
Bye
I guess this is really old news now but it’s the first speedlinking article on this site so I thought I’d check it out. I really like the idea.
