Study Tips
I found a site that I think provides some excellent study tips: How To Get A First provides free Study Tips primarily targeting degree students, although advice given could equally be applied to any other type of course.
Rather than providing the usual kind of study tips written by academics, How To Get A First shares the experience of a degree student who finished top on their course, and as such tries to provide practical, easy to apply techniques. How To Get a First is written from a students perspective, and discusses the value of applying a work ethic to a degree course making suggestions on time management, learning to touch type, working with lecturers, note taking, and getting the most out of services offered by your University.
There are many other study tips that will help you get the most from your degree course, a good starting point being the index of study tips where some of the more popular posts are listed. If you’re in school or taking any courses, you might want to check out How To Get A First!

Nice find!
I’m not at uni, but I am in a position of continual study, so this could prove to be a useful resource. Thanks!
Great! Hopefully it will help!
This is a classic example of working your niche. Everyone talks about ‘finding your niche’ and ‘avoiding overcrowded niches’ but here is someone successfully exploiting their area of expertise. Good find.
Thnks Frank, this was the blog that got me into blogging!
As for the Niche thing, its working quite well, I was able to get reasonable google results on less competitive keywords….
I was going to put this up using a CMS like Mambo or Joomla!, but being lazy I used wordpress instead.
That lead me to reading John Chow, which lead me here, and to start my other blog (linked from my name here)…. so Im now very glad I used Wordpress
Blogging isnt big in the UK, well, not compared to the US, so WP was not an obvious choice.
I need to update the index on the site to keep it usable, the problem with using a blog as opposed to a CMS is that the navigation is not quite as obvious….
Thanks for the review Saman, I will return the favour shortly
No problem! I have set up a CMS for an organization and have found WordPress to be perfect for it!! There are a ton of Template Tags that make it easy!
But then I could have just used Joomla…
The main advantage of WP IMO is permalinks which, last time I looked Joomla did not support, also, the default structure of Wordpress makes it SEO friendly.
TBH Im not worried about using WP, now its up and running I can see its not a problem, so, as it aint bust Im not going to waste time trying to ‘fix it’.
The template tags are useful, I would like to write my own template at some point, but I know how time consuming that can be
BTW Saman, are you getting pens printed for your top commentors ?
John emailed me about it, but I haven’t seen them yet…
I was joking, you getting pens made then?
Oh! No, I’m not printing any pens - yet!
These are great study tips.
hmm…a handy resource…does that mean I should start studying??
