Check me out: I must be getting popular! I logged into Wordpress and saw this, there were 185 spammy comments today alone! I usually get one or two a day and sometimes it was as much as ten, but this was a little excessive! I would imagine that most of them was from the same spammer, or a few spammers as most of the comments were the same format or text.
What Will I Do?
Well, I’ll take it as a compliment! Actually, I read John Chow’s article Die Spammers! Die! a few weeks ago, but didn’t think I really needed any of his tips. Today I changed my mind!
I used to look as spam as a way of life - It’s always there and I don’t mind dealing with a few of them - but I will not subject myself to 185 a day!!! Obviously, the spammers are targeting my wp-comments-post.php file so I changed that! Also, I started using Brian’s Threaded Comments. I’m not entirely crazy about it, we’ll see . . .
i wouldn’t know this trick if I haven’t browse your site… I got 50 already on my WP, I’ll install threaded comment soon
