The Grey Album

I was talking to a buddy the other day about this and he had never heard about it and I thought I should spread the word about this amazing album.

I first heard The Grey Album album back in 2005 and I fell in love right away! In fact, it still enjoys regular play on my iPod.

What Is It?

The Grey Album is a mashup created by Danger Mouse - who has gone on to work with MF Doom (for all of the great [adult swim] remixes) and most recently, Gnarls Barkley. Danger Mouse took all of the vocals from Jay-Z’s The Black Album and a ton of samples from the Beatles White Album and mixed them together - remember, this isn’t just a simple remix album, he truly has created new songs using instrumentals and samples!

The Problem

The only problem with this album is that it’s a mashup, and by nature, illegal. The samples were unauthorized! Other then it being against the law, there is no problem with it! ;) It really is an amazing album and I absolutely recommend to everyone! I am not a huge Jay-Z fan - or a huge Beatles fan for that matter, but this is one of my favorite all time albums!

How Can I Get It?!?

Well, I could simply host it but that would be against the law. You have to search the Internet. luckily, the album is popular and not hard to find. Click here to start your search.

The Video

The Grey Video is music video based on the “Encore” mashup, it’s pretty cool! Click the link to play it, right-click to save it (22.6mb). Enjoy!

LOL…I saw this on your “related posts” and was about to tell you that you’re like two years too late but then I remembered that you started blogging like…this year.

Either way…if you’re a fan of stuff like this…the hot mashup DJ right now is Girl Talk. Find the album Night Ripper if you can.
