I am a huge fan of the US version of The Office! My Dad loved Britcoms and I have seen my share and I have seen a couple of episodes of the British version and didn’t think it was that great. Although, I do live Ricky Gervais’ Extras!
I finally got a chance to watch last Thursday’s episode, here is what I thought . . .
THERE ARE SPOILERS BELOW! You have been warned.
I am so glad that Dwight is back! After the last episode, I thought he was gone, I just assumed that Rainn Wilson had moved on but he was back in action: This time we was working at Staples (I wonder how much Staples is paying for all of the in-show advertising, at least it’s not to obtrusive). I am glad that the producers stayed within The Office’s format and showed us the interactions with the employees at Staples as they do in the Dunder Mifflin offices!
It was refreshing to see Dwight have another nemesis when the two branches merged. Don’t get me wrong, I love the cat-and-mouse games that Dwight and Jim play but it was nice to see another antagonist on the show. But, after this episode, I was beginning to tire of Andy - as was the entire Office staff. I guess that means that Ed Helms is doing a great job playing the character, but I must agree with Jim: “I miss Dwight.”
Because of Andy, Jim was back to his old self: He wanted to play a prank on Andy and his girlfriend Karen was just to overloaded with work, so he went to Pam for help. I love watching these two! You just want them to get together!
Karen noticed that Jim and Pam were admiring their handy work (Pam: “I think we broke his brain”) and when she asked Jim if he still has feelings for Pam, he answered “Yes”. This is a good thing and bad thing! Karen and Jim’s hyjinks were a little more grownup, but were still funny. Pam and Jim’s pranks are just hilarious, and they have history and a great friendship. With only two episodes left in the season, I fear that we wont be seeing to much of Karen.
There is a lot I am leaving out, but this episode is named “The Return” for a reason other then Dwight: Oscar is back from his “Gay-cation” (thanks Kevin), and Micheal was up to his usually stereotyping: “Your gayness does not define you. Your Mexicaness is what defines you.” And in the end, Dwight steals all of Oscar’s thunder by rampaging on all of the pinatas in the office!
Another great episode, I just wish there wasn’t only two left! Alteast Heroes is back and Lost is right around the corner!
“Another great episode, I just wish there wasn’t only two left!”
I have good news for you. “The Return” is episode #13 out of 25 for the whole season. We’re just about half way. :o)
Oh man I hope you are right, I have checked a few sites and they only showed 15 episodes! I guess I need to do a little more research!
