Over time, your computer’s hard drives can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down disc drive performance and sometimes make data writing difficult or even impossible. Windows has a built-in tool called the Error Checking Utility that can automatically detect and repair disc errors. The utility will search the hard drive for bad sectors & system errors and repair them for faster performance.
How To Check And Repair Disc Errors
- Click the Start button and select My Computer
- In My Computer window, right-click the hard disc that you want to scan and click Properties
- Click the Tools tab
- Click the Check Now… button

- Tick the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box

- Click Start button
