Over time, your computer’s hard drives can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down disc drive performance and sometimes make data writing difficult or even impossible. Windows has a built-in tool called the Error Checking Utility that can automatically detect and repair disc errors. The utility will search the hard drive for bad sectors & system errors and repair them for faster performance.

How To Check And Repair Disc Errors

  1. Click the Start button and select My Computer
  2. In My Computer window, right-click the hard disc that you want to scan and click Properties
  3. Click the Tools tab
  4. Click the Check Now… button
  5. Tick the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box
  6. Click Start button
