I spent a few hours last night backup my machine and creating several partitions, one for each major operation system (except Mac’s). I now have XP and Vista running and should have Ubuntu installed tonight! I also created a fourth for my Ghost image.

What’s New Pussycat?

So, Vista really isn’t the big, bad OS that I originally thought it was (I’m still not trilled about the possibility of DRM). I’ve only really been running it for about two hours now, but I am happy with what I see: there are a lot of improvements that will affect the average Joe.

As a power user, I haven’t really dove deep enough to give you a real detail opinion. I must say that I am enjoying the eye candy though - Vista’s Aero [1] interface is really pretty! I always said that I didn’t care about the eye candy, that I just want the OS to work and that’s why I was sticking with XP, but after using the machine for a little while, I am really impressed! It’s a huge improvement over XP’s Luna.

The Time Has Come

Now that I have things running, it’s time to start tearing it apart! I want to see how I can hack and mod this puppy! Stay tuned sports fans!

About Face

I have always said that I will not install Vista as my primary OS but I have done just that! I still have XP installed but I have taken the time to install all of my applications and copied all of my files onto my Vista install. I thought that, if I’m going to really review Vista, then I have to be on it all of the time. Luckily, I haven’t really had a compatibility issues yet - there where a few items that needed driver updates but Vista informed me there was a problem and actually pointed me to where I could resolve the issues - wow, it’s like the future . . .

[1] Aero is a backronym for Authentic, Energetic, Reflective and Open
